Life travels in Canada, Egypt, France, Italy, Spain, Austria and the United States have determined the nostalgic and lyrical character of my work which consists mainly of oils on canvas, mixed techniques on paper and canvas, original etchings and lithographs.
My work is not planned in advance. My paintings are instictive and spontaneous; it is as though the brush or pen has a mind of its own - it carries me away to far away places. I never ponder my next move; my hand subsconsciously goes on painting until I am satisfied with the forms, colors and until there is nothing to add to enhance it.
I am foremost a colorist. I start with a color which I have already visualised and I try to make the painting as powerful as possible. I work with a color key that I love to play with and try to make it different from painting to painting. I do whatever is required to make more of a color or make it brighter or duller in order to give the painting a sense of wholeness.
I never look for subject matter. Something jumps at me as an idea and I continue the flow. I know when a work is finished when nothing in it bothers me and it gives me a feeling of contentment.
